We've moved to a new house... well... new to us... it's actually a very old house. It's a "B House" built in 1944, as we understand it, as temporary government housing. One of the things we love about this new house is the fenced back yard where we are planning several projects. The house has had many, many previous owners, with many varied talents and interests; we can see evidence of gardeners, hunters, teenage boys and model airplane enthusiasts. There are two very neglected rose bushes in the back yard, one of which surprised us today with a large blossom, which of course we promptly chopped off and placed in our living room. We also are working on preparing this patch of ground to be a vegetable garden, which is proving to be more difficult than we thought it would be due to the very compacted dirt and the roots of this tree. We have no idea what kind of tree this is, but it is in full blossom right now and it brightens up our whole yard with bright pink flowers. This Saturday I plan to smoke a pork shoulder in our new smoker and FINISH digging up our garden. We'll see.
